Abstract: Peter B. Raven was born and raised in London, England and immigrated to the United States in 1965 to study at the University of Oregon. He graduated with a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology in 1969 and served as a Post-Doc, Asst. Prof. and Assoc. Prof. at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He joined the American Physiological Society (APS) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in 1971. Subsequently in 1977 he joined the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) Nee UNTHSC in Fort Worth. He was promoted to Full professor in 1986 and served as Chair of the Department of Integrative Physiology from 1993 to 2001. As Professor of Integrative Physiology ha was active with NIH funded research and mentoring 18 Ph.D., 22 M.S. degree graduates and10 post-doctoral fellows until August 31, 2016 when he retired. Because of his International reputation for research into to the mechanisms of arterial baroreflex regulation of blood pressure during dynamic exercise, he was appointed to the Editorial Board of Experimental Physiology in 2003-2008 and served as Hot Topic Review Editor 2009-2016. On his retirement from his Academic Position he was awarded Honorary Membership of the Physiological Society in March 2017.
